Silversmithing Class

Skill level: Introductory/Beginner - Maximum Class Size: 10
Class Fee: $300.00

All stones, silver, supplies and tools furnished. You do not need to bring anything to the class. You will learn all the basics of Silversmithing and jewelry making. You will learn how to solder sterling silver. You will design a ring, make a bezel, solder the ring together including a 3 wire ring band.

Dates available are June 21st & 22nd, or July 26th & 27th 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM Each Day

Class is taught by Don Norris, a professional silversmith and teacher for over 30 years.

BRING ON THE FIRE!

If you're feeling a little antsy and winter weary, this is a really good time to sign up and take that class you have always wanted to try. You won't have to drive to Denver! You get to stay up here in the mountains and learn all about the incredibly cool world of lampworking! Call us or stop by to get registered for classes.
Each student will have the opportunity to dream, create and take home pieces made in the flame by their own hands. These classes are taught by Eric Ratcliffe.

Classes are five hours from 12 to 5pm, 30 minute break mid afternoon.
Dates available are on Thursdays & Fridays.
Which class being taught will be decided by the students at the time of registration and payment.
Special arrangements for other times can also be made with Eric.

Introduction to Glass Bead Making
Skill level: Introductory/Beginner - Maximum Class Size: 2
Class Fee: $165.00
Learn the basics of glass bead making using a Minor Burner torch. This introductory class will focus on using various techniques using moretti glass to make beads. Being an introductory class we will cover the history of glass, safety concerns as well as reduction, devitrification and expansion ratings. Topics will include the key fundamentals of control, color theory and form. The only guidelines of the workshop is having fun and expressing ourselves through molten glass. Wear cotton clothing, closed-toe shoes, & tie long hair back. Class involves the use of a torch with open flame and gases. Supply List: Paper & pen. Instructor will provide basic lampworking tools, didymium safety glasses & glass.

Introduction to Borosilicate Pendants and Marbles
Skill level: Introductory/Beginner - Maximum Class Size: 2
Class Fee: $165.00
Borosilicate metal colors and clear encasement will be the focus of this workshop. Students will use a range of clear overlay techniques to better understand the color pallet of precious metal infused borocilicate glass (Pyrex, Kimble). Being an introductory class we will cover the history of glass, safety concerns as well as reduction, devitrification and expansion ratings. Topics will include the key fundamentals of control, color theory and form. The only guidelines of the workshop is having fun and expressing ourselves through molten glass. Wear cotton clothing, closed-toe shoes, & tie long hair back. Class involves the use of a torch with open flame and gases. Supply List: Paper & pen. Instructor will provide basic lampworking tools, didymium safety glasses & glass.

Students must be at least 18 years old to register for these classes. Please eat before coming to class, no eating is allowed in the studio.

Registration/Payments are final, refunds will be at the discretion of The Management & Instructor.

Eric Ratcliffe, Glass Artist

Eric's interest with the torch and glass started when he was 17. He has taken many workshops from some of the most successful artists in the glass working field today. To name a few, Ray Olson, Sue Ellen Fowler, Robert Mickelson, Janus Miltonburger and Roger Parramore. 2006, brought Eric to Frisco, CO, working as a full time glass artist and part time snowboard instructor. Eric volunteers his lampworking skills making scientific instruments for projects for the National Renewable Energy Laboratory in Golden, CO. In February, 2008, Eric's glass pieces were used in a renewable Energy and Hydrogen production project titled "Lunch Box Laboratory", which became part of the exhibit, Design and the Elastic Mind, which is now on display at the Museum of Modern Art in New York City.

BEADS, BEADS, BEADS!

Bead Stringing and Dangles on Headpins
If you know how to wrap a headpin. If you know how to crimp a bead. You don't need this class. Making jewelry is not hard. You just need to learn a few basic techniques. That's what this class is all about, the basics for bead stringing and dangles on headpins.

We will provide the materials for you to make a necklace, a bracelet, and even earrings.
$45.00, includes all materials.

Peyote Stitch Amulet Bag
Make an amulet bag with neck strap and hanging fringe. Learn to read and follow a pattern. Learn tubular, flat, and decreasing peyote stitch, which is sometimes referred to as gourd stitch all in one project.

Class Fee: $75.00, this is a 2 session class. *Materials $30+*

Luna’s Beads and Glass is located at 416 East Main Street, on the corner of 5th and Main in beautiful downtown Frisco, Colorado. We are west of Denver on Interstate 70, at an elevation of 9,000 feet, in the heart of the Rocky Mountains (directions).
